Born in Dhaka on 19 August 1968, Razu Choudhury began writing verses in grade seven. That early habit grew into a long career as a Bangladeshi lyricist and writer.
During the 1980s and 1990s, his words became part of Bangladesh’s band-music era, with songs written for Azam Khan, Prometheus, Stirling, and other leading performers of the time.
He moved to Switzerland in 1989 and later settled in the United States in 1993, continuing to write and release Bangla music while building his life abroad.
In 2022, he founded Shabdo Karigor to give original songs, artists, and collaborative music production a dedicated home.
Singers, composers, and music directors meet around each song. A selection appears here; the complete supplied portrait archive opens below.
